How Do I Ask For A Warrant Walk Through?
Do you have a warrant for your arrest? You may want to consider doing a warrant walk through. Sounds easy enough, right? How do you ask for one?
If you are looking to spend as little time in jail as possible a warrant walkthrough is going to be your best bet. If you have committed a crime, it probably goes against your thinking to turn yourself into law enforcement because you know you will have to pay the consequences. This is like a child misbehaving and getting caught, there will be penalties!
A warrant walkthrough is the lesser of the evil. When you elect to go this route you are turning yourself into law enforcement. A warrant walkthrough will ensure you do not have to spend time in jail. Even if the offense is on the more serious side it is recommended to turn yourself in. By turning yourself in you are demonstrating your willingness to cooperate with the court system and you are not trying to evade the law enforcement.
What is the process to ask for a warrant walkthrough?
First, you must contact a licensed bail bondsman such as 49th Street Bail Bonds. (We are the bondsman on 49th by the way). When you initially reach out to a bondsman you can do so by phone or in person. Have them look up your name in the clerk of court to see when you missed your court date and also ask them to get the bond amount.
Next, you would go to the bondsman’s office if you initially placed a phone call and you would fill out the proper paperwork which the bail bondsman will provide. Do not go to the jail and do a self-turn in, it is a quicker process to go through a bondsman and you won’t have to go back to the police department in most cases. Once the paperwork is filled out the warrant will be taken care of. When working with a bondsman you are prepaying your bond, so you are paying in advance prior to turning yourself into law enforcement. The bondsman will provide the court notice of your warrant and getting it served without actually arresting you.
What makes this process so incredibly easy is that after you fill out the paperwork, pay for your bond the bondsman will take you to the jail and post the bond while you are with them. All you have to do is sit in the lobby during the process and wait for the bondsman to file the paperwork with the clerk of court. Another bonus during this process is that your cell phone will not be confiscated. You will be allowed to keep your phone.
Do you have an FTA warrant (Failure To Appear Warrant)?
At 49th Street Bail Bonds we can still offer you a warrant walkthrough if you have an FTA warrant. There are some exclusions to this. Some FTA warrants can’t be handled with the walkthrough process and include probable cause warrants and bench warrants. Warrants for domestic violence, child support warrants, violation of probation (VOP) warrants with no bonds are also not eligible for a warrant walkthrough.
